By NAN The Joint Security Task force (JTF) on Tuesday said it had killed two suspected Boko Haram members at Gayawa in Ungoggo Local Government Area of Kano State.
This is contained in a statement signed by spokesman of the JTF, Capt. Ikedichi Iweha in Kano.
The statement stated that the suspects lost their lives during an early morning operation at Gayawa general area.
“A further cordon and search operation was conducted this morning at about 6.30 at Gayawa general area.
“Two terrorists lost their lives as a result of shootout with troops,’’ the statement said.
It said that items recovered from the terrorists included two AK 47 rifles, five magazines and 91 rounds of 7. 62 special ammunition, among others.
It said the suspects were arrested at about 7.30 p.m. following an intelligence report by operatives of the JTF and personnel of the Department of the State Security Service, Kano State Command.
“The operatives mounted a snap check point along Kankara-Sheme road in Katsina State to intercept fleeing terrorists from operations in the North-Eeastern axis of the country.’’
It said that two AK 47 rifles, four magazines, and 68 rounds of 7.62mm special ammunition were recovered from the suspects in a Nissan Sunny car.
The statement attributed the success by the JTF to the support it was receiving from the public.
