Abuja (Sundiata Post) – The Federal High Court sitting in Jalingo has ordered the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), to include Honourable Munir Umar Kofi as the candidate of the Action Alliance Party for the Saturday’s House of Representatives election for Jalingo/Yorro/Zing Federal Constituency.
Justice Salim Ibrahim in his tilling asked the AA to forward the name of the plaintiff Hon. Munir Umar Kofi to INEC as the candidate of the party for the election and asked the INEC to publish same for the election.
Court documents obtained by our Correspondent read in part that “AND THE COURT HAVING delivered its Judgment in favour of the Plaintiff.
“1. That an order is hereby granted mandating the 1 Defendant to forward/re-submit the name of the plaintiff to the 2nd Defendant as its candidate for Jalingo, Yorro, Zing Federal Constituency, in the by-election to be conducted on 3rd February 2024.
“2. That an order is hereby granted mandating the 2nd Defendant to publish the name of the Plaintiff as candidate of the 1 Defendant for Jalingo, Yorro, Zing Federal Constituency in the by-election to be conducted on February 2024”.
Our Correspondent reports that the election is scheduled to hold in Six Hundred and Fifty Two polling units across Three Local Government Areas on Saturday to fill the vacuum created by the death of Honorable Maihanchi who was elected at the last General election but died before his inauguration.
