The Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria, FAAN, has just announced to passengers and airport users that the runway of the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, Abuja, would be closed for the next 30 minutes.
According to the spokesperson of FAAN, Mrs Herrienta Yakubu , this is to enable the Authority take safety precautions.
She said a private jet being operated by Nest Oil has just skidded off the Abuja runway.
“The aircraft lost it’s landing gear in the process but all hands are on deck to put the situation under control and normalcy would be restored within the hour,” Yakubu said.
