ABUJA (Sundiata Post)- The Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) has declared Sunday January 8 a national day of mourning in Nigeria and the Diaspora in reaction to the continued killing of Christians in Southern Kaduna State.
According to a statement sent to Sundiata Post on Tuesday and signed by the Rev. Musa Asake, National General Secretary of CAN, the association said the declaration was to protest the killing of Christians in that part of the state.
All christians are directed to dress in their mourning attire of black clothes in churches on January 8 and pray that God who delivered Jews from Hamman, should deliver Christians from Hamman in Nigeria, the statement said.
Siundiata Post recalls that there has been an orgy of killings that have claimed hundreds of lives in Southern Kaduna communities despite the imposition of dusk to dawn curfew by the Kaduna State Government.
CAN also called on Christians to observe all celebrations and merriments associated with the New Year on low key in solidarity with Christians who had lost their lives and have been denied the privilege of celebrating the Yuletide.
