KADUNA – The Kaduna Refining and Petrochemical Company (KRPC) on Monday offered to train 150 youths for six month, under its skills acquisition training programme.
The Managing Director of KRPC, Mr Saidu Mohammed, made the pledge at the opening ceremony of the sixth edition of its Youth Empowerment and Skills Acquisition Programme(YESAP).
He said “The participants are to undergo training for six month at a stretch.
“The first one month will be devoted to general orientation and fundamental skills”.
He said that the initiative was aimed at significantly reducing poverty and improving the lives of the company’s host community.
According to him, the company remains committed to improving the standard of living of its host communities through the execution of various projects.
The managing director urged the participants to take the advantage of the opportunity to change their lives and those of their families.
NAN reports that the company has trained and empowered 675 youths in the state since the introduction of the programme five years ago.
According to him, training will engage the youth in various skills such as carpentry and wood work, auto welding, fabrication, auto mechanic, textile and fashion design, poultry among others.
Responding, the District Head of Kamazo, Mr Auta Makama appreciated the efforts of the KRPC to empower communities around it.
“We, the host community, are pleased with the management on the increase in number of youth enrolled for the programme.
“It is very encouraging, this kind of service will further guarantee security in the host community.” (NAN)
