L,AGOS – Kalbe Nigeria Plc, makers of Extra Joss energy drink on Wednesday restated its support to development of football at the grassroots in Nigeria.
The company’s Country Manager, Didik Novandi, while flagging-off the Extra Joss Cup Season 3 Championship in Lagos, said the organisation was committed to developing football.
Novandi said the U-20 tournament was instituted to give talented players the opportunity to showcase their talents and secure contracts with big clubs within and outside Nigeria.
“The first edition was held in 2011 and it was a fantastic experience for us and the players as many young players were discovered.[eap_ad_2]
“Among the players discovered, 12 of them aided Lagos State to emerge the winner of the football event at the 18th National Sports Festival (NSF) hosted by Lagos State,” he said.
The championship will take place from Sept. 22 to Oct. 26 in five centres with 16 clubs registered in the Epe Division, 24 Ikorodu, while Badagry has 32 clubs.
Ikeja has 32 clubs and Lagos Division also 32 has clubs registered.
Two best teams would be selected from Epe division, while three top team will qualify from Badagry and four from Lagos divisions for the state finals to be held on Oct. 26 at the Campos Stadium, Lagos.
The winner of the championship gets N1 million, the second position will go home with N500,000, while the third placed team would be rewarded with N350,000.
The divisional winners will go home with N50,000 each. (NAN)[eap_ad_3]
