KANO – The Kano State Government on Wednesday said it has approved N5 million for the participation of Kano Pillars basketball club at the 2013/2014 DStv Men’s Basketball League Play-offs in Lagos.
The state government is sponsoring the participation of the club in the competition which got underway on Sunday at the National Stadium.
The competition is scheduled to end on July 19.
The state’s Commissioner for Information, Dr. Damburam Nuhu, announced the approval while briefing newsmen on the outcome of the State Executive Council meeting in Kano.

Nuhu said the council had also approved over N121 million for the construction of Sharada Road Phase II in Kano city.
“The council also approved over N13 million for the empowerment of first batch trainees of the Institute of Horticulture at Bagauda.
“The council approved over N52 million as feeding cost of 1,100 cadets at Kano Security Institute, Gabasawa,’’ he said.
The commissioner said the council had approved N6 million for the emergency repairs of the outlet canal of Kafin-Chiri dam in the Garko Local Government Area.
He said the government was determined to develop infrastructure in the state as part of initiatives to improve the welfare of the people.(NAN)
