Katsina Communities Upbeat As FG Rehabilitates 4 Major Roads

Malumfashi   –   Residents of Malumfashi and Kafur in Katsina State are upbeat over the commencement of some key township roads in the two towns, awarded by the Federal Government.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the roads inluded the one leading to Malumfashi General Hospital up to Borindawa village and the other in Dansarai village a suburb of the town.
In Kafur, the government has awarded the construction of the road leading to the residence of the District Head and the one into Mahuta village.
NAN reports that all the roads were captured under the constituency projects of Babangida Ibrahim, the member representing the area in the House of Representatives.
Residents said that the dilapidated nature of the road had remained of great concern to the communities.
The contractor, Mr Adekunle Ademola, said on Monday that work on the projects would commence in the first week of April, assuring that workers and equipment would be mobilized to the sites.
Ademola said the hospital road would be handled first, adding that the projects included the provision of culverts and drainage.
Some of the residents, Malam Mas’udu Wada, Malam Musa Kankara and Alhaji Jafaru Majalisa, expressed happiness over the projects, saying that the condition of the hospital road in particular, was awful as it had left patients in more difficulties.
Alhaji Muhammadu Sani, the village of Dansarai enjoined the contractor to ensure quality job and execute the projects according to specification.
Sani noted that the roads were important to the residents and their rehabilitation would enhance socioeconomic activities.
Maharazu Adamu-Dayi, Personal Assistant to the lawmaker said the roads were selected because of their importance to the people.
According to him, the lawmaker has in the last six years, drilled 165 boreholes across the constituency to enhance potable water supply to the people.
He also listed other projects executed by Ibrahim under the constituency project, to include repairs of Dayi and Dankanjiba dams to boost irrigation, providing free treatment to patients, and issuing grants to final year students in tertiary institutions.
Adamu-Dayi added that 85 cars, 120 tricycles and 750 motorcycles, knitting and sewing machines were also distributed by the lawmaker to his constituents.
