Katsina looted funds: Ex-gov Shema to be served through media—–Chairman

Katsina  –  The Katsina State Judicial Commission of inquiry has ordered for a substituted service on the immediate past governor of the state, Alhaji Ibrahim Shema, to appear before it.

Shema is to answer questions on his role in the alleged missing of N10.7 billion SURE-P funds received by the state during his tenure.

The counsel to the commission, Mr Hassan Liman, SAN, told the commission that all efforts to reach Shema at his residence in Katsina and Dutsin-ma were not successful.

Liman, also explained that efforts to serve the then Commissioner of Finance, Alhaji Lawal Jari, with a summon to appear before the commission on the issue had also proved abortive.

He, therefore, urged the commission to use grant that the two be served through the media.

In his ruling, the chairman of the commission, Justice Muhammad Surajo, said that since efforts to serve Shema were s in vain, he should be served through a publication in the Daily Trust and Thisday newspapers.

Surajo, also directed that the summon be pasted at their residences in Katsina, Dutsin-ma, and Kano.

He adjourned the matter to June 14. (NAN)
