Kebbi Govt to sustain scholarship for foreign studies — Secretary

Birnin Kebbi – The Kebbi Government on Tuesday said it had not suspended the issuance of foreign scholarship, in spite of current funding challenges in the country.

Dr Sahabi Yauri, the Executive Secretary of the state Scholarship Board said in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Birnin Kebbi on Tuesday, that the government would continue to sponsor students without hitch.

He said any student who passed the required subjects for admission into university would be sponsored to study.

The executive secretary said that the government currently sponsors 500 students studying professional courses, including Medicine, Nursing, Pharmacy, Engineering, Dentistry, in Sudan and India.

Yauri said that the board had paid N1 billion scholarship grant to all students from the state in tertiary institutions within and outside the country, adding that it would not relent in this effort.

According to him, the government would continue to select the best universities in the world to secure admission for its students who want to progress academically.

He called on the beneficiaries to reciprocate the gesture by studying hard in order to justify the huge investments made in them.

NAN reports that the government is offering scholarship to 5,000 students from the state studying in tertiary institutions across the country.(NAN)
