DAKINGARI (KEBBI) – Gov. Saidu Dakingari of Kebbi State has promised automatic employment for NYSC members who distinguished themselves at the end of the service year.
Dakingari made the promise at the inauguration of the 2014 Batch ‘C’ NYSC Orientation Course in Dakingari, Suru Local Government Area of the state on Thursday.
He said that the security of the corps members would also be accorded priority and urged them to contribute to the development efforts of the people of the state during their service period.
“Your special contributions to issues of environmental protection and social services will be rewarded,” he added.
The NYSC Coordinator in the state, Mr Abdullahi Baba, said a total of 2,400 NYSC members of the 2014 Batch ‘C’ had been registered for the mandatory one-year programme.
“Out of the number, 1,310 are males, while 1,310 are females,” he said.
The NYSC coordinator said corps members would be trained in Skills Acquisition and Entrepreneurship Development (SAED), War Against Poverty (WAP), the CBN Entrepreneurship Development Training and agro-allied skills.
Baba lauded the Kebbi state government, security agencies and other organisations for supporting the NYSC scheme, adding that the gesture had given the corps members a sense of belonging.
The 2,400 2014 Batch ‘C’ corps members were inaugurated by Justice Samaila Haruna, who represented the state Chief Judge, Justice ibrahim Mairiga. (NAN)
