Kebbi to Partner USAID on Diarrhea Eradication

Birinin Kebbi –  Kebbi Government says it will, in collaboration with Sustaining Health Outcomes in the Private Sector Plus (SHOP PLUs) and USAID, train 17 medical personnel on eradication of Diarrhea.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the collaboration was launched on Thursday in Birnin Kebbi.

The team leader of the collaboration, Mrs Ayodele Iroko, said at the occasion that seven rural communities had been visited as part of efforts to raise awareness on eradicating the disease.

She said media awareness, jingles and campaign slogans had been embarked upon while 1,000 affected children had been treated.

The team leader said the collaborative effort was strictly aimed at eradicating diarrhea in the state.

Iroko said the collaboration would also ensure safety of the children through extensive campaign.

She advised parents, especially mothers, to ensure their children were kept away from filthy environment and supported on personal hygiene.

Earlier, the Wife of the Governor, Dr Zainab Bagudu, commended the collaborative effort and selection of the state for the campaign.

She assured the organisers of a hitch-free exercise in the state.

The Commissioner of Health, Alhaji Umar Kambaza, said that the joint fund for the project would be utilised judiciously for the disease to be eradicated.

He said health providers had been empowered to increase quality and access to maternal child health services and health care delivery by the private sectors in the past three years.(NAN)
