Nairobi – Kenya’s tourism authority said on Monday it had kicked off a promotion campaign
in the U.S. to woo more visitors in light of Kenya Airways’ direct flight between New York City and Nairobi.
Betty Radier, Chief Executive Officer of Kenya Tourism Board (KTB) said this in a statement issued in Nairobi.
“The roadshow, which comes against the backdrop of the launch of non-stop, direct flights between Kenya and
the U.S. on Oct. 28, provides KTB and the private sector with an opportunity to promote destination Kenya to travel
and tour operators from the North American region,’’ Radier.
“Our goal is to increase tourist arrivals from the U.S. by 15 per cent during the current fiscal year 2018/19,” said Radier.
KTB has teamed up with more than 10 private sector companies drawn from across the Kenya’s tourism sector to
line up promotional city roadshow campaigns in the U.S. that run on Dec. 3-7.
The cities that will be covered during the roadshow include New York City, Boston and Washington, D.C.
According to KTB, the U.S. market is currently Kenya’s top market, accounting for 12.2 per cent of total international arrivals
to Kenya.
Radier said the event would provide a platform for the promotion of Kenya’s top and signature experiences in the U.S.
which include its world-renowned wildlife safari, culture and heritage, adventure, and special occasions.
