The National Bureau of Statistics (NBS) has said that the average price of kerosene rose by 6.10% in December 2021.
It increased from N441.06 in November 2021 to N467.97 in December 2021, according to NBS document titled: “National Household Kerosene Price Watch December 2021.”
The Bureau noted that on year-on-year basis, the price was hiked by 32.65 per cent from N353.79 in December 2020 to N467.97 I. December 2021.
“The average price per litre of Household Kerosene paid by consumers in December 2021 was N467.97, an increase of 6.10 per cent on a month-on-month basis from N441.06 in November 2021.
“On a year-on-year basis, the average price of the product increased by 32.65 per cent from N353.79 in December 2020 to N467.97 in December 2021,” said NBS.
The document said that the top three states with the highest average price per litre in December 2021 were recorded in Ebonyi, Abia and Ekiti with N687.50, N585.00 and N552.08 respectively.
Besides, it said the states with the lowest average prices per litre were recorded in Bayelsa, Kwara and Nasarawa with N300.00, N355.60 and N384.85 respectively.
The document said on the other hand the average price per gallon of Household Kerosene paid by consumers increased by 2.51 percent on a month on month basis from N1544.01 in November 2021 to N1582.73 in December 2021.
It noted that the year-on-year analysis shows that, the average price per gallon of kerosene increased by 34.63percent from N1175.59 in December 2020 to N1582.73 in December 2021.
NBS said the top three states with the highest price were recorded in Cross River, Lagos and Jigawa with N2035.94, N2015.79 and N2004.44 respectively while the three states with the lowest price were recorded in Adamawa, Yobe and Borno with N1006.25, N1164.29 and N1181.25 respectively.
In a related development, the Bureau said in a document titiled Liquefied Petroleum Gas (Cooking Gas) Price Watch (December 2021), the NBS said the average price for refilling a 5kg cylinder of liquefied petroleum gas (Cooking Gas) on year-on-year analysis increased from N1949.75 in December 2020 to N3594.81 in December 2021 showing an increase of 84.37 percent.
It noted that on a month-on-month basis, the average price increased by 8.53 percent from N3312.42 in November 2021.
According to the report, the states with the highest average price for refilling a 5kg cylinder of liquefied petroleum gas (Cooking Gas) were recorded in Benue, Cross River and Borno with N4083.33, N3975.00 and N3966.67 respectively while States with the lowest average price were recorded in Adamawa, Yobe and Bauchi with N2398.40, N2543.14 and N2586.43 respectively.
The Bureau said similarly, the average price for refilling a 12.5kg cylinder of liquefied petroleum gas (Cooking Gas) increased year-on-year by 76.49 percent to N7332.04 in December 2021 from N4154.28 in December 2020.
The document said month-on-month analysis showed that the average price increased by 0.33 percent from N7308.06 in November 2021.
The States with the highest average price for refilling a 12.5kg cylinder for liquefied petroleum gas (Cooking Gas), said NBS, were Osun, Oyo and Abuja with N8491.67, N8303.33 and N8058.00 respectively while States with the lowest average price for the refilling of a 12.5kg cylinder for liquefied petroleum gas (Cooking Gas) were Borno, Bayelsa and Nasarawa with N5852.13, N6678.57 and N6679.57 respectively.
