LAGOS – The Kickboxing Federation of Nigeria is sourcing for funds to keep athletes busy with competitions to prevent them from being discouraged over non participation at the 19th National Sports Festival.
Wilson Okon, a Member, Technical Committee of the federation made this known in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Lagos on Thursday.
“Since kickboxing is not privileged to be part of the festival, we want to make sure that our athletes do not get discouraged and shift to other combat sports.
“The idea is for every member of the board to go out there and source for funds and sponsors to support us in organising competitions,’’ he said.

“We have lots of upcoming talents across the country; it is only through such competitions that we can identify and develop them to stardom,’’ he said.
Okon, who represents the federation at the World Association Kickboxing Organisation, appealed to kickboxing enthusiasts, corporate bodies and non-governmental organisations to collaborate with the body to achieve its objectives. (NAN)
