The Emir of Bukkuyum, in Zamfara State, Alhaji Muhammadu Usman, who was abducted from his palace last week has regained his freedom after spending four days in captivity.
The Emir was abducted by unknown gunmen at his palace in Bukkuyum town of Bukkuyum Local Government Area, when he was about to enter a mosque close to his palace to observe his Isha prayers.
The state police PRO, DSP Sanusi Amiru, who confirmed the release, said the emir was rescued by security agents at Gadar Zema along the Zamfara -Kebbi border.

He said the emir is in good health and has since been re-united with his family. He however said he was not aware if ransom was paid to the kidnappers.
“Though no arrest was made, the state police command is intensifying efforts to ensure that the perpetrators are nabbed and brought to justic.”

One of the emir’s sons, Alhaji Murtala Muhammadu Usman, also confirmed the release of his father.
He expressed joy over the development and confirmed that the emir is in good health.
He prayed to Almighty Allah to end security problems confronting the nation.
