Dutse -The Jigawa government has initiated campaign to discourage farmers in the state from using agro-chemicals that causes kidney failure in some parts of the state, Gov. Muhammad Badaru, has said.
The governor made the statement on Thursday in Dutse at an interactive session with newsmen to mark 100 days in office.
He explained that the campaign was necessary based on preliminary reports from experts engaged by the government to find out the cause of kidney failure in Hadejia Council Area and its environs.
He said the report, compiled by researchers from Ahmadu Bello University (ABU), Zaria indicated that kidney failure was caused by some agro-chemicals used by farmers.
“The researchers have submitted their preliminary reports; they will go back for in-depth analysis on the cause of kidney failure,” he said.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that several people diagnosed with kidney disease in the state had died, while others were hospitalised. (NAN)
