Jos – The Plateau Government says it will review the security architecture of the state, following series of attacks that left scores of people dead and many others injured.
Gov. Simon Lalong made the disclosure on Wednesday in Jos at monthly prayer organised by the State Government.
The governor said that the security architecture of the state is being reviewed to close identified gaps during the unfortunate attacks on some communities in the state.
He said that relevant laws were also being reviewed to ensure maximal penalties against the perpetrators of the attacks.
Lalong condemned those exploiting the unfortunate incident for political gains.
He said that it was wrong to play politics with the lives of people.
Rev. Ezekiel Dawan, Deputy Chaplain of the Chapel in his sermon urged believers to pray for peace of the land.
“We must agree to work in unity as we pray for our state,” he said.
Prof. Mathew Sule, Executive Secretary, SUBEB, Prof. Yohana Izam, Vice-Chancellor, Plateau State University, Bokkos and Mr Dan Manjang, Commissioner for Science and Technology took the Bible readings.
Rev. Obed Dashan, COCIN Vice President, the representative of ECWA President, Rev. Stephen Panya Baba and Rev. Buba Aliyu among others led the intercessory prayers at the service for peace in the state.
Chief Agwom Izere, the traditional ruler of Izere kingdom, and Justice Longji representing the Traditional Council and Judiciary respectively delivered goodwill messages.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that top government officials including wife of the governor attended the service.
