JUKU – The Kogi State Community and Social Development Agency (CSDA) has in the last five years spent N800 million on 242 community-based development projects across its three senatorial districts.
The agency’s General Manager, Mr James Odiba, made the disclosure on Friday at Ejuku in Yagba East Local Government Area during the inauguration of Ejuku Multi-Purpose Town Hall by Gov. Idris Wada of Kogi.
Odiba said the projects included those that on education, health, water, transport, electrification, socio-economic, gender and vulnerable groups.
The projects, he said, were executed by the Community and Social Development Projects (CSDP) between 2009and date, in line with the agency’s mandate to positively impact on rural lives.
He said that projects running to N37 million had been executed in Yagba-East Local Government with CSDA funding them with N33 million, while the beneficiary contributed the N4 million counterpart funding.
On the town hall project, Odiba said the agency contributed N 4.95 million out of the N5.5 million spent on it while the community contributed N550, 645.
Wada, while inaugurating the facility expressed delight that his government through the agency had been able to contribute to the welfare of the people.
He charged the people to always ponder and deliberate on things that could move the community, local government and the state forward rather than dwelling on retrogressive and divisive issues.
He commended the community’s project management team and the CSDA for the good job and pledged the government’s commitment to addressing other needs of the community. (NAN)
