LOKOJA (SUNDIATA POST)- The Commissioner of Police in Kogi, Mr Miller Dantawaye, has stressed that security agencies must adopt intelligence-led methods beyond traditional roles to better protect national peace and security.

He made the call on Friday while receiving the newly deployed Sector Commander of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), Mr Kumar Tsukwam, at the State Command Headquarters in Lokoja.

“The best intelligence often comes from the streets through relationships and proactive follow-up.

“Seemingly isolated cases can reveal wider criminal syndicates, which is why we must dig deeper and not remain on the surface, ”Dantawaye stated.

He added that road safety extends beyond enforcing traffic laws, noting that reckless driving, driving under the influence, and disregard for safety measures endanger lives and pose serious security risks.

The commissioner called for stronger collaboration across agencies and closer coordination between operational leaders to enable real-time information sharing.

In his remarks, Tsukwam expressed appreciation for the warm reception and praised the CP’s longstanding commitment to inter-agency cooperation.

He called Dantawaye a seasoned and well-trained leader, whose approach has inspired the FRSC to adopt smarter, data-driven protocols and improve field coordination.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the two officials also discussed plans to establish a joint operational database to monitor vehicle theft, illegal transportation, and repeat traffic offences.

The meeting concluded with a mutual commitment to strengthen joint task force patrols, launch safety awareness campaigns, and implement a multi-layered approach to road safety and internal security.

Both leaders agreed that deeper collaboration would help save lives and restore public trust in law enforcement. (NAN)
