Abuja- Wale Mustapha, Media Officer of Kogi United Football Club, Lokoja, on Monday assured that the team would do better in the 2014/2015 Nigeria National League (NNL) season.
Mustapha told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Abuja that his optimism was based on the plans of the management for the players and technical crew, which would serve as motivation.
He said that the club management had concluded plans to improve the welfare of the players and technical crew.

According to him, the move was expected to impact positively on the performance of the team.
”The club management has given us their word that there will be increased welfare package for the team starting from the new season.
”The salary structure will also be modified and the winning bonus will increase compared to what we had last year.
”We have also renewed the contract with our foreign kit sponsor with a better package.
”So, I think we have everything needed to have a better season this time around.
”And with all these, I know we will be able to achieve our goal of getting one of the tickets to the Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL),” Mustapha said.

He said that club, as part of its preparation for the season, was already screening players.
”We have started our open screening camp and have ended the first phase of the screening.
”At the end of the first phase, 24 players were selected to join the 25 that were retained from last season.
”So, for the second phase of screening, we have slated three friendly matches for them, to enable the technical crew make the final selection.
”At the end of the day, we hope to have 35 players that will be in closed camping till the new season will start,” Mustapha said.
NAN reports that Kogi United ended 7th on the table with 46 points in Group A, which had 10 clubs, in the last season. (NAN)
