Katsina – The Katsina State Government said it provided 150 motorcycles and 10 Toyota Hilux vans for effective supervision by extension workers during the 2018 dry season farming.
Alhaji Ibrahim Shehu, the Managing Director of the state Agricultural and Rural Development Authority (KATARDA), announcef this to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Saturday in Katsina.
“The state government has provided the vehicles, to assist extension workers to discharge their functions effectively to dry season farmers.
“The vehicles will enable extension workers to enter all the nook and crannies of the 34 local governments to provide technical advice to the rural people,” he said.
Commenting on farm inputs, the managing director said that government had trained 100 youths on art of spraying farms with chemicals.
Shehu announced that the youth were selected from the council areas and were given three months training on how to use the spraying machines and equipment.
“After completing the training, the youth were given the equipment so that they can use it to spray irrigation farms for a fee,” he said
The managing director called on youths to embrace farming as a means of survival and avoid being idle and waiting endlessly for while collar jobs.
