Kuje – The Chairman of Kuje Area Council, Mr Abdulahi Galadima, on Tuesday presented a budget proposal of N2.4 billion for 2017 fiscal year to its Legislative arm.
Galadima while presenting the “Budget of Reality” to the Councillors, said it was aimed at a realistic fiscal framework and would be funded by the revenue sources available to the council.
He said 2016 was a difficult year for the council with challenges of inadequate funding from the Federation Account and low revenue generated by the council.
“The total expenditure for 2017 budget proposal is N2. 42 billion and the breakdown are as follows: Personnel Cost N1. 36 billion, Overhead cost N454 million, Capital Expenditure N603 million.
“Mr Speaker and Honorable Councilors, the total percentage for the capital budget to be executed in 2017 is N603 million which represent 25 per cent of the budget.
“Personnel Cost is 56 per cent and overhead cost is 19 per cent of the 2017 Kuje Area Council,” he said.
He added that the Budget of Reality would go a long way to bring positive Change to the Area Council as areas infrastructure would be adequately funded.
The Speaker of the Legislative Arm, Mr Samson Waziri, commended the chairman for presenting the budget, and assured that the members would deliberate and pass the budget.
Waziri said no administration would succeed without a good budget, adding that the Kuje Area Council Legislators would ensure that the budget was properly implemented.
He said “last year the council had to deal with the budget put in place by the previous administration with challenges of inadequate funding.
“The legislators would ensure that the budget is properly implemented for the development of Kuje Area Council.
