Ilorin – The Kwara House of Assembly has passed the state’s 2016 Appropriation Bill of N128.1 billion.
The budget was increased by N12 billion over N116 billion presented by Gov. AbdulFatah Ahmed in December 2015.
The appropriation bill tagged, “Budget of Sustained Expansion’’, was passed after the lawmakers adopted the report of the Committee on Finance and Appropriation presented during plenary on Thursday.
In the budget, the recurrent expenditure was N60. 757 billion against N58. 548 billion earlier presented by the governor, an increase of N2. 203 billion.
The capital expenditure stood at N67.358 billion against the N57.661 billion earlier presented, indicating an increase of N9.741 billion.
In the appropriation bill, N8. 930 billion was earmarked for transfers for capital development against N7.579 billion, a difference of N1.351 billion from the figure presented by the governor.
The Speaker, Dr Ali Ahmad, said the Assembly would ensure the proper monitoring of the budget to achieve the desired objectives.
He expressed optimism that the

in the 2016 appropriation bill would be achievable in view of new revenue administration in the state.
Ahmad said that the Assembly would soon enact a law that would aid revenue collectors to discharge their duties without hindrance.
The Speaker directed the Clerk of the Assembly, Mr Simon Okedare, to produce a clean copy of the Appropriation bill for the governor’s assent. (NAN)
