The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the festival, which features cultural activities, led to a [pro_ad_display_adzone id=”10″]boost in commercial activities in the community.
NAN also reports that traders, who came from various parts of the country and the neighbouring Benin [pro_ad_display_adzone id=”10″]Republic, displayed their goods on the highway leading to the venue of the event.
Many personalities from outside the community also came to grace the grand finale of the three-day [pro_ad_display_adzone id=”10″]event.
Malam Lawal Hassan, a shoe and cloth vendor, told NAN that he used to travel from Kano to the community during the festival because of the high influx of people into the area.
He, however, said that there had been low patronage since Wednesday that he had arrived the community compared to the last edition of the festival.
This, he said, was blamed on delay in salaries and poor economic condition in the country.
Hassan, however, expressed the hope that sales would improve before departure on Sunday.
A resident of Kaiama, Mrs Mariam Usman, told NAN that she often patronised visiting vendors as their wares were often cheaper than those of traders resident in the community.
NAN reports that the festival, which is organised annually across the territory comprising the old Borgu Kingdom, featured horse racing, cultural dances and prayers. (NAN)
