The PDP chairmanship candidate in Irepodun Local Government Area of Kwara State in Saturday polls, Alhaji Luqman Owolewa, has promised to focus on women empowerment, youths and infrastructure development, if elected.
Owolewa made the promise in Omu Aran on Saturday, the headquarters of the local government, while speaking with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) at the end of the elections.
He described the election in the local government as peaceful and orderly.
He said the reports he got from other centres indicated that there was no problem anywhere in the local government area.
The PDP candidate commended the people for their maturity, noting that the large turnout of voters showed the confidence they had on the party.
He promised to justify the confidence reposed on him and the party.
The former special assistant to the state governor on tourism said he was mostly impressed by the people’s turn out for the election.
He promised to deliver dividends of democracy to every nook and cranny of the local government if elected.
Owolewa also promised to operate an open door policy and embark on people-oriented programmes to better the lot of the people in the area.
