Ilorin – The Kwara State Government on Saturday warned contractors currently handling various road projects across the three senatorial districts against shoddy jobs, the News Agency of Nigeria(NAN) reports.
The state’s Commissioner for Works and Transport, Alhaji Aro Yahaya, gave the warning while speaking with NAN in llorin after the inspection of some of the ongoing road projects.
Yahaya said that the state government would not pay any contractor who did not meet required specification.
He expressed the readiness of Gov. AbdulFatah Ahmed to pay contractors, who executed their projects on time and according to standards.
The commissioner also expressed satisfaction with the state of work at the projects inspected.
He directed the contractors to expedite action on the completion of the project before the raining season.
Yahaya said that most of the road projects inspected had reached over 80 per cent completion, which was in tandem with specifications.
The commissioner said the inspection and supervision of all ongoing road projects would be a continuous exercise.
He reaffirmed the determination of the state government to continue to embark on infrastructural development of the state as a way of distributing dividends of democracy.
Some of the ongoing road projects inspected by the commissioner were OroAgo-Oko Bridge, Oro palace way, Lla Bridge all in the Kwara-South.
The other project was the Megida-Arobadi road in the Kwara -North senatorial district. (NAN)
