ILORIN – Drivers in ministries, departments and agencies in the Kwara Civil Service have been charged to continually acquaint themselves with innovations and basic techniques of road usage, for effective service delivery and productivity.
The State Head of Service, Alhaji Dabarako Mohammed, gave the charge while declaring open a two-day workshop on defensive driving and safety awareness for drivers in the service at the State Staff Development College, Ilorin.
According to him, this has become imperative to promote a good driving culture among government drivers, as well open them up to safety consciousness tips, vehicular maintenance initiatives and other regulations guiding road traffic in the State.
Alhaji Dabarako, who expressed concern over the increasing incidence of road crashes involving both low and highly skilled top government functionaries and its untold negative impact of the government, said this informed the purpose of the workshop.
The Head of Service, who said that the workshop was organised in collaboration with VICLANTOBOLOTA Ventures, said government was poised at curbing avoidable road crashes by updating the knowledge and skills of its drivers, especially considering the multiple vehicular movement on the highways.
He added that the workshop would also aid effective driver/boss communication, proper identification and interpretation of road signs, as well as other viable road values needed to forestall carnage on the roads.
Alhaji Dabarako commended the support of the State Government in actualising the feat and urged the participants to make adequate use of the training.(NAN)
