Port Harcourt – Mr Tonye Princewill, Labour Party governorship candidate in Rivers in the 2015 election, has sued for peace among the members of all the political parties in the state.
This is contained in a statement issued by Princewill and made available to newsmen on Tuesday in Port Harcourt.
The statement noted that recent killings and insecurity in some parts of the state ahead of the March 19 re-run legislative elections was unnecessary.
It urged the youths to resist being used to forment crisis that would lead to breakdown of law and order in the state.[pro_ad_display_adzone id=”70560″]
“Political parties come and political parties go; politicians who are on opposing sides in the morning, may end up exchanging words in the afternoon and enjoying laughter and drinks together at night,” it said.
The statement urged the youths to be conscious of their future and be guided in their actions.
“ The election is not a do or die affair; nobody wants to associate with killers; living by the sword only invite the sword into your life.
“ Think deeply. Shun violence. Power is transient and rest with God, so find peace,” it said.
The statement quoted Princewill as saying that the state needed a multi party approach to move forward and overcome its challenges. (NAN)
