Abuja- The National Chairman, Labour Party, Alhaji Abdulkadir Abdulsalam, said the party’s executive committee under his leadership remained recognised by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).
Abdulsalam told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Abuja on Monday that the current crisis rocking the party would not diminish the party and its ‘’glory’’.
He said that the intrigues in the party would make it stronger and more vibrant, adding that the party was set to consolidate on its strong structure to serve the interest of Nigerians.
He urged Nigerians to discountenance the purported hand over of the party’s certificate to the labour movement by its former chairman, describing it as ‘’inconsequential’’.
On forthcoming Kogi and Bayelsa governorship polls, he said that the party would field candidates and participate actively.
“We are prepared for the election and ready for it; our people at the ward level and states have been sensitised enough, so we are ready for it,’’ he said.
Abdulsalam disclosed that forms would soon be brought out for members who wish to contest in the elections on the platform of the party.

“The timetable for the Kogi and Bayelsa governorship elections by INEC is out.
‘’Aspirants have been trooping in here to indicate their interests; we are interacting with them, and this has also put us on our toes.
“The cost of the forms is yet unknown as the party has not decided, but it will not be expensive,’’ he said.
He said that the party would support candidates that would fly its flagat the polls to ensure victory.
According to him, Labour Party is very unique in the sense that it remains the only party that is a statutory stakeholder of very strong institutions in the country, having representatives from the NLC and TUC.
On the resolution of the APC crisis, he said, “whatever APC did within the party guidelines was democratic.
“We are happy that the leadership of the two chambers has decided to do the needful.
“I want them to realise that there is party supremacy.
“In all, we thank God that the crisis was resolved and they are now down to face the job of legislation and begin to make proper laws that will see Nigeria through’’. (NAN)
