Abuja (Sundiata Post) – The Labour Party Presidential Campaign Council, (LPPCC) continued its votes’ protection plan within the 19 northern sates this week with a training conference in Mambayya House in Kano.
The training dubbed Northern Nigeria vote canvassers’ conference draw participants from the entire northern states according to the LPPCC Spokesperson, Dr Yunusa Tanko who is the lead promoter of the initiative and Chaired by the Labour Party National Secretary Alhaji Ibrahim Farooq Umar representing the National Chairman Barr Julius Abure.
The aim according to the LPPCC Spokesperson was to train those who would in turn train the polling unit canvassers he described as “soldiers” for the forthcoming general elections.
The trainees, he further stressed were selected from all the local governments of the nineteen states of the north adding, ” we are not leaving anything to chance in making sure that people’s votes count in 2023″.
He disclosed that the responses had been overwhelming and organic, stressing that “the rate at which Nigerians are making sacrifices are heart warming to us and it goes to shows that Labour Party and indeed Obi/Datti candidacy has received God’s blessings already”.
Sundiata Post recalls that Tanko had two weeks ago inaugurated the pilot polling unit soldiers in Dawaki ward 4, near Kubuwa, an Abuja suburb. Dr Tanko had during the inauguration assured that such would be replicated in 176, 846 polling units cut across Nigeria.
He disclosed that the the participants at the Kano conference had been directed to go back to their local area councils to commence the recruitment of volunteers in their various wards and polling units.
Dr Tanko equally used the opportunity of the Kano Conference to inaugurate the volunteers for his local ward, Kafe Ward 1, in Kura Local Government Area of Kano State.
The polling unit volunteers are headed by chairmen and vice chairmen who reports to ward coordinator. The coordinators report to the local government supervisors who also report to the State party chairman’s office before it gets to the LPPCC Head Quarters.
In his his remarks the chairman of the occasion Alhaji Ibrahim Farooq Umar declared the full support and passed a vote of confidence on the Abure lead NWC of the Labour Party and pledged full cooperation to the program to assist the party in winning the 2023 General Elections.
The Vice Presidential candidate of the party who spoke on phone apologies for his absence at the program referencing other engagements in Abuja. In his remarks he urged everyone to ensure full execution of the program to enable victory at the polls in 2023 .
