Ikeja – An Ikeja Chief Magistrates’ Court on Tuesday ordered that three labourers , Bashiru Saheed, Shehu Abdulfatai and Tunde Saka, should be kept in the Kirikiri Custodial Centre for allegedly robbing a motorcyclist with a cutlass.
The Chief Magistrate, Mrs O. A. Layinka, who did not take the defendant’s pleas, ordered that the case file should be sent to the state director of public prosecutions for advice.
Layinka adjourned the case until March 11 for mention.
Saheed, 24, Abdulfatai, 25 and Saka, 24, all residents of Ilasamaja area of Lagos, are facing a two-count charge of conspiracy and armed robbery.
Earlier, the prosecutor, ASP Raji Akeem, told the court that the defendants committed the offences with others still at large on Jan. 7, at Ilasamaja.
Akeem said that the defendants accosted one Mr Abdulrahaman Mamsi and stole his motorcycle worth N250,000.
He said the defendants also stole Mamsi’s Tecno phone worth N3,500 as well as his N17,000.
“Some policemen on patrol got to the scene and arrested the three suspects while the others escaped,” he said.
The alleged offences contravene Sections 297 and 298 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015.
