Lagos – Former Super Eagles midfielder Edema Fuludu said on Thursday that lack of adequate motivation was affecting the performance of Nigerian club sides at Confederation of Africa Football (CAF) competitions.
Fuludu was a member of the Super Eagles squad that won the 1994 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) tournament in Tunisia.
He told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) that such deficiency amongst the teams would continue to reduce their capacity to excel at continental competitions.
The midfielder, who plied his trade with the defunct Julius Berger FC of Lagos, therefore, advised club sides to take the welfare and payment of players’ salaries seriously.

“You must pay players their money; you must psychologically build them up, before the technical and tactical things can work.
“Before the physical training can actually affect the players you must do what is right and treat them as human beings and people who are ready to win.
“So if you don’t motivate them you should not expect miracles.’’
