Lagos – The All Farmers Association of Nigeria (AFAN), Lagos State chapter, on Thursday lauded the effort of the International Fund for Agricultural Development (IFAD) at encouraging agricultural development in Nigeria.
Mr Femi Oke, Chairman of the association in the state who gave the commendation in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Lagos, said the UN organisation recently empoweried 30 farmers in Anambra with modern agricultural equipment.
Oke said that the development would boost agricultural production in the eastern part of the country.
“Although the information about the gesture came to me very late, it is a welcome development because Nigerian farmers are benefiting directly from IFAD,’’ he said.
The chairman said that IFAD should extend the gesture to other states so that more people could benefit and become professional farmers.
