Abuja – A Gudu Upper Area Court, Abuja, on Tuesday granted bail to Emmanuel Abanonye, Williams Gwabee and Joel Okechukwu in the sum of N150,000 each for alleged unlawful possession of locally-made pistol.
The judge, Alhaji Umar Kagarko, ordered that the defendants must produce one surety each in like sum, and adjourned the case till April 25 for hearing.
Abanonye, 30, Gwabee, 25 and Okechukwu, 27, all of Orozo, Abuja, were arraigned on a two-count charge of criminal conspiracy and unlawful possession of a locally made pistol.
The Prosecutor, Umoh Inah, told the court that the defendants were arrested by a team of police men from the FCT command, Abuja, on Dec. 31.[pro_ad_display_adzone id=”70560″]
He said the defendants were in possession of a locally-made pistol and could not give the police satisfactory explanation on how they got the said weapon.
The prosecutor said the offences contravened Sections 97 and 319 of the Penal Code.
The defendants pleaded not guilty. (NAN)
