Lagos – The Chairman, Committee on Health, Lagos State House of Assembly (LSHA), Mr Segun Oladele, has said the state government was committed to qualitative healthcare delivery for
the citizenry.
Ololade, representing Epe Constituency II, made the assertion in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Sunday in Lagos.
He said that the government would not relent in its efforts at making the healthcare sector in the state one of the best in Africa.
The lawmaker said the government was passionate about qualitative healthcare and as a result, it had provided a helipad at the Lagos State University Teaching Hospital (LASUTH), Ikeja.
“It is the government’s commitment to ensure it gives not just the dividends of democracy, but the best of what obtains anywhere in the world.
“It is the commitment to the welfare of our people which is of paramount interest to us and we are still committed to doing more.
“There is a cordial relationship between the executive and the legislature in achieving this and we are at the best of our performances.
“Our oversight function as legislative arm has been well complimented by the executive which comes at a cost and we will continue what we have started,’’ he said.
Oladele attributed the infrastructure development in Lagos State to the mutual understanding between the citizens and the government.
“The secret is about the people, Lagosians, playing active roles in supporting the government by paying their taxes.
“The infrastructure development is not just a product of thinking, but mutual understanding that existed between the public and the government.
“In all the nooks and cranies of Lagos, you can see development, especially in the health sector. What this translates to is that we have given our healthcare sector the desired attention,’’ he said.
