LAGOS – The Lagos State Government on Thursday said it would commence the operation of the Lagos State Office of Education Quality Assurance in March.
The Commissioner for Education, Mrs Olayinka Oladunjoye, made the remark at a three-day capacity workshop for quality assurance evaluators on report writing in Lagos.

Oladunjoye said the workshop would keep the participants abreast of current global trends in school inspection.
She was represented at the occasion by Mr Mathew Olayanju, the Director, Quality Assurance in the ministry.
Oladunjoye advised the participants to take full advantage of the training to remain relevant, as regards the full take-off of the Lagos State Office of Education Quality Assurance in March.
“The state adopted a new quality assurance approach to school inspection in 2009, and has since put in place several activities and programmes aimed at improving learning outcomes.
“No fewer than 300 inspectors have been trained by the state government, in collaboration with the Education Sector Support Initiative Nigeria (ESSPIN) between 2009 and 2010, to implement the new approach to school inspection in the state.
“ESSPIN has also provided regular support to further build the capacity of the quality assurance readers and mentors, especially in the production of annual State of Education report, as well as integration of quality assurance reports into a database,” she said.
Oladunjoye said Lagos State had since become a reference point and a pacesetter for education quality assurance in Nigeria, as other state governments had been understudying it, in addition to a delegation from Burundi.
She commended ESSPIN for its contribution toward the progress of quality assurance inspection approach in the state. (NAN)
