Lagos-based French School, Lycée Français Louis Pasteur de Lagos, has unveiled the first edition of the school’s magazine on poetry to broaden and develop its pupils skills, talents and knowledge on poetry.
The headmistress of the school, Mrs Anne-Laure Léon, said at the unveiling of the magazine and poetry presentation by the pupils of the school that the magazine was a collection of the poems by pupils from some selected schools in Lagos.
“From the poems put together so far in this book, we have come to realise that several pupils have got talents for poetry.
“Their talents for poetry are waiting for opportunities and platforms where they can be exhibited.
“The poetry presentation by the pupils is also a way to encourage our children to express themselves,” she said.
Léon said that the school started the poetry project since September 2020.
She said that it was an opportunity to encourage the pupils to write some poems both in English and French languages.
“The initial plan was to invite all our schools in Lagos but we had to observe the COVID-19 pandemic protocols.
“It will be a continuous project and our pupils say that they will like to improve on their current performances next year,” she said.
