Lagos – The Lagos State Commissioner for Education, Mrs Folasade Adefisayo, says another radio lesson programme is being organised for Junior Secondary Schools.
Mr Kayode Abayomi, the Head, Public Affairs Unit, Lagos Ministry of Education, made this known in a statement in Lagos on Friday.
According to the commissioner, the programme is in line with the state government’s commitment to ensure that students keep learning while at home during the present lockdown and schools’ closure due to COVID-19 Pandemic.
She noted that the radio teaching programme was an initiative of the state government through the Ministry of Education in partnership with Naija FM 102.7 and `South Saharan’.
She said that the radio lessons would cover four subjects: English Studies, Mathematics, Basic Science and Civic Education.
Adefisayo noted that the teachings would commence from Monday, April 6, 2020, running from 12 noon to 1p.m. daily.
The commissioner said that the aim of the radio teaching programme was to keep the students engaged while at home during the lockdown.
She urged parents and guardians to inform and ensure that their children/wards tune in to Naija FM 102.7 and make the best use of the quality teachings and educative programme.
“A similar programme, also an initiative of the ministry which is meant for Senior Secondary School students is currently ongoing on WAZOBIA radio and television stations.
“The programmes commenced on March 30 while that of radio is being aired from 11 a.m. to 1p.m. daily.
“That of TV is being aired between 2 p.m. and 4 p.m. daily,” Adefisayo said.
