Lagos – Ahead of the maiden Emir of Kano Para-soccer Championship scheduled for April, the Lagos team says it is hopeful of emerging tops.
The competition is holding from April 2 to April 8 in Kano.
Femi Afolayan, the Head Coach, the State Para-soccer Association, told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Wednesday in Lagos that his team had prepared adequately for the competition.
“We have been training on Tuesdays and Thursdays, but we just started serious training. By the grace of God and with commitment being put into the training, I pray we win,” he said.
Afolayan added that twelve players and five officials from the state would feature in the championship.
He appealed to corporate organisations to help develop the sport through sponsorship of its competitions.
“I am appealing to corporate organisations to encourage disabled sports because it is the same rule that guides football that applies to `disable football.”
The first prize winner will cart away N200, 000, while the second place will get N150, 000 and the third place will go away with N75, 000. (NAN)
