Lagos – The Lagos State Police Command on Tuesday restated that it would help families to get the details of their prospective nannies and other domestic workers.
The command made the assertion in reaction to some kidnap cases which occurred recently in the state as a result of employers not having enough information about their employees.
Some members of the public have suggested that the command should embark on awareness programmes that would inform the public on steps to be taken before employing such workers.
DSP Kenneth Nwosu, the command’s Public Relations Officer, told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) the Commissioner of Police, Mr Kayode Aderanti, had promised to help people to carryout detailed investigation before engaging any worker.
“The CP had said that the command is ready to help people to profile whoever they want to employ into their homes.[pro_ad_display_adzone id=”10″]
“This is no rocket science, we already know how we will go about it.
“Just give us the person’s data and we will do a proper background check on the person,’’ Nwosu told NAN.
There has been cases of kidnap from employers who secured the services of housemaids through online platforms and even from those who claimed to be the relations of the employed.
But these platforms only supply scanty information about the prospective employees. (NAN)
