Abuja – Mr Osakpamwan Eriyo, the National President, Road Transport Employers’ Association of Nigeria (RTEAN), on Tuesday insisted that the Lagos State Executive Council of the association stands dissolved.
In a statement made available to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Abuja, Eriyo cautioned the public not to deal with the dissolved Alhaji Musa Mohammed-led Lagos State Executive Council.
He said that the dissolution of Lagos State Executive Council followed the expiration of their tenure.
The RTEAN boss said a committee had been put in place to conduct election within 60 days, adding that” every member of the union has right to contest, including members of the dissolved executive.”
On the claim that the dissolution was not ratified by RTEAN’s National Executive Council (NEC), Eriyo said that Article 9(I) of the union’s constitution as amended in 2013, empowers the National President to dissolve any state executive that the tenure elapses.
“When President, Secretary General, Financial Secretary, Treasurer, Deputy President (Operations), and some state chairmen and secretary are sitting, NEC is conveyed.
“We also have members of the National Executive Council on ground in Lagos State; so, what are they talking about?
“Overall, we advice the general public not to deal with the dissolved Lagos State Executive Council, led by Alhaji Musa Mohammed. ‘’
