Landlord’s son arraigned for allegedly breaking into tenant’s room

LAGOS – A Lagos landlord’s son, Azeez Ogunbadejo, who allegedly broke into a tenant’s apartment and stole property valued at N285,000, was on Wednesday arraigned in Lagos.

Ogunbadejo, 30, is facing a two-count charge of burglary and theft at an Ogudu Magistrates’ Court.

He, however, denied the charge.

But the prosecutor, Cpl. Uche Simon, told the court that the accused committed the offences on March 26 at No. 20, Obazor St., Ifako in Gbagada area of Lagos.

He said the accused broke the door of one Mr Biodun Onipede’s apartment for allegedly owning rent.

“The accused broke his door when the complainant went out and stole N200, 000, a Star time decoder and a gold necklace, all valued at N285,000.”

Simon said the offences contravened Sections 285 and 305 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2011.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the accused may be sentenced to a minimum of three years imprisonment if found guilty.

The Chief Magistrate, Mrs Omolade Awope, granted the accused bail in the sum of N100, 000 with two sureties in like sum.

Further hearing was fixed for May 2 for hearing. (NAN)
