LAGOS – The General Manager of the Lagos State Emergency Management Agency, Dr Olufemi Oke-Osayintolu, on Tuesday presented about N1.75 million to 35 victims of the recent rainstorm in Surulere, Lagos.
The rainstorm, which occurred on April 13, destroyed property worth millions of naira.
Presenting the money, Oke-Osayintolu said that the gesture was to show true demonstration of commitment in bringing succor to victims of various disasters in Lagos State.
“Emergencies and disasters by nature are unforeseen and sudden and this explains why the blows inflicted by them are usually deadly and devastating.[eap_ad_2]
“It is in line with this philosophy that the Babatunde Fashola’s administration has graciously approved payment of this financial assistance,’’ he said.
According to him, the financial assistance is aimed at giving relief to those affected and “to lend credence to the sincerity of the State Government’’.
He called on Lagos residents to accord safety issues the deserved attention in daily their activities.
The general manager also urged Lagosian to take advantage of insurance policies to ensure their lives and property. (NAN)[eap_ad_3]
