Tafa – A lawmaker, Rep. Abubakar Lado, has awarded scholarships worth N200 million to 90 indigent students from Suleja, Gurara and Tapa local government areas of Niger.
Lado, representing Suleja, Gurara and Tapa constituency in the House of Representatives, told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Tafa, Niger, on Thursday that 40 of the students were pursuing programmes at Noida International University, New Delhi, India.
“We are taking care of their school fees, accommodation and allowances for the period of their courses,” he said.
The lawmaker said that 46 others were currently undergoing various programmes at Newgate College of Technology, Minna while the remaining four were at the Federal Medical Centre in Kebbi.
He said that the measure was aimed at providing the required manpower needed for effective health care delivery in the constituency.
“We will continue to initiate people oriented policies that will improve on the well being of our people irrespective of ethnic, religious and political differences,” Lado said.
He called on the people to continue to support the policies and programmes of the present administration to ensure rapid socio-economic and political growth of the country .
