Sokoto – A member of the Sokoto State House of Assembly, Alhaji Malami Basakkwace ( APC-Sokoto) has donated five computer sets and accessories worth N 250,000 to the Sultan Abubakar Secondary School, Sokoto.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the lawmaker handed over the computers to the Commissioner, Basic and Secondary Education, Dr Jabbi Kilgori in Sokoto on Friday.
Basakkwace, who represents Sokoto South two Constituency, said that the gesture was part of his contributions to ensure success of the state of emergency declared on education sector by the state government.
“It is also aimed at boosting Information, Communications and Technology (ICT) in the state.
“ICT is now the vogue globally, and we cannot afford to lag behind,’’ he said.
Responding, Kilgori promised that the computers would be used for the purpose intended.
He urged other lawmakers and wealthy individuals to emulate the gesture of the lawmaker.
Also speaking, the Principal of the school, Alhaji Muhammad Maigero, said that the computers would be installed at its computer laboratory to enhance teaching and learning.
