Katsina – The member representing Katsina Federal Constituency, Alhaji Salisu Iro-Isansi has empowered 1,000 youths and women to start small scale businesses in the constituency.
Speaking at the ceremony on Monday in Katsina, Iro-Isansi said that the support was part of his efforts to make women and youth in the area to become self-reliant.
He said that each of the beneficiary would receive N10,000 to enable them start any business of their choices.
Iro-Isansi pledged to initiate more empowerment programmes to make his people self reliant and improve their living conditions.
The lawmaker advised the beneficiaries to make good use of the capital for the attainment of the desired objective.
Also speaking, the Director-General of SMEDAN, Alhaji Dikko Radda, said that he was able to empower 5,000 people in Katsina State through various empowerment initiatives.
Radda commended the lawmaker for initiating the empowerment programme that would uplift economic status of his constituents and take them out of poverty.
Some of the beneficiaries told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) that they were delighted with the support and pledged to use the money judiciously.
