LAGOS – A lawyer, Mr Danlami Basharu, on Thursday in Lagos urged government at all levels to integrate Persons With Disability (PWDs) in governance.

Danlami, who is a former National President of the Joint National Association of Persons with Disability, gave the advice in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN).
He said people with disability were being marginalised even when they constituted 15 per cent of the nation`s population.

“We should not even be comparing ourselves with South Africa, because they have gone very very far.
“In 20 years of democracy in South Africa, they have three ministers with disability.
“In Nigeria, we don’t even have any top ranking person with disability in government. So, it is a terrible indictment on the nation.“

Danlami expressed dismay that the number of persons with disability was on the increase as a result of the incessant bomb attacks in parts of the country.[pro_ad_display_adzone id=”10″]
He called on the Federal Government to be more proactive in the fight against insurgency in the country. (NAN)
