ILORIN- An Ilorin-based legal practitioner, Mr Abdullahi Usman, has called on Nigerian women to be more involved in politics.
Usman, who made the call on Saturday in Ilorin during an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN), said politics was not restricted to men alone.
According to him, most women see politics as dirty and more suitable to men’s lifestyle, not women.
“It is not a gender game. Politics is for all, be you man or woman. It is your right as a woman to partake in politics.
“Being a woman is not enough as a reason for you to stay away from politics. Stop sidelining yourself and join politics to effect change.
“Women are not inferior. They can effect positive change in the country’s economic reform ,” he said.
The lawyer also advised parents to encourage their daughters to partake in politics and stop showing aparthy.
He called on Nigerian leaders to be gender sensitive and appoint more women in their cabinet to allow them serve the country. (NAN)
