Abuja – An Abuja based NGO, Initiative for Leadership Development and Change (ILDC), says the 9th National Assembly deserves commendations for maintaining harmonious relations with the executive irrespective of ideological differences.
The President of the leadership vanguard, Chief Ugochukwu Nnam, told News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Abuja that such harmony was good for national progress.
Nnam lauded Senate President Ahmed Lawan for driving legislations that promote national cohesion and security.
He described the 9th Assembly as ambassadors of peaceful Nigeria having embraced patriotism and national interest over parochial or selfish interest.
“The 9th Assembly has demonstrated to Nigerians that independence of the legislature does not imply warfare with the executive.
“We commend them for not firing barrages of insults and disparaging the executive on issues that require dialogue as we saw in previous assemblies,’’ Nnam said.
The ILDC President, who passed vote of confidence on the 9th Assembly, urged them to continue to work in synergy with the executive for political and economic stability.
He however, called on states to emulate the harmonious relations existing between the Presidency and the National Assembly for rapid development at the grassroots.
Nnam urged Nigerians to be optimistic, saying that the roadmap towards a better and greater nation has begun.
